  A fantastic parade of Hong Kong classic cars recently started its journey from Vietnamese industrial city Haiphong, heading to Southwestern China’s Yunnan province.The classic car team crossed such cities as Halong Bay, Hanoi and Lao Cai in Vietnam and Hekou, Mengzi, and Kunming in Yunnan, China and hold car exhibitions there.

  Lee Ha, the owner of the Ford V85, the "oldest" car in this team, told APD that his car is 80 years old and he bought it in 1997 with over 100 thousand Hong Kong dollars.

  “It took two years to repair it and the maintenance costs are even higher than car prices, but it was a precious style now,” Lee said.

  In Haiphong, a mother of a pair of lovely Vietnamese siblings said this is the first time that her children saw classic cars. “I wish the event and the friendship between the Vietnamese and Chinese people a complete success,” she said.

  During the journey, the team attracted local people to stop and take pictures. Mr. Chen, from Yunnan said that “I love sports cars very much. It is a surprise to see classic cars in my hometown. Welcome everyone to Hekou.”

  Liang students of Yunnan University took photos with antique cars. 

  Yunnan University's student Liang said that Yunnan is close to Southeast Asia, so there are more economic exchanges with Vietnam. Yunnan University has many international students from Southeast Asia, and most of them are from Vietnam who can speak Chinese well.

  “It’s amazing to see these antique cars passing through our campus,” Liang said.

  Mr. Huang, a car owner said that it has changed his view about lifestyle on the border.

  The eight classic cars participating in the event are from the Hong Kong Classic Car Club. 2018 Hong Kong antique car trip to Vietnam, and Yunnan, China was organized by Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province and XINHUA FINANCE AGENCY in Hong Kong and sponsored by Yunnan Energy Investment Logistics Co., Ltd.

  The event aims to strengthen China-Vietnam cooperation and exchanges, expand friendly cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and culture as well as advocate the cooperation between Vietnam, Hong Kong and Yunnan, and contribute to the common prosperity and development of the three places.
